Getting Started on Your Script

How to get started on writing a screenplay?
– Test your concept. Pitch it to friends and see what type of reaction you get.
– Find your premise.
– Do a beat outline before you jump into writing your screenplay.
– Do you have an active protagonist that the audience will care about?
– Do you have a strong antagonist?
– Create a writing schedule for yourself and set a time to write each day so you actually do it.

Before you can cast a film, work on the script to make sure it would be of interest to the actors. They need to care enough to keep reading.
Here are four elements you need to showcase straightforwardly: WHERE & WHEN, WHAT, and WHY.

We all know first impression matters. What are some factors to think about when you construct your script’s opening?

Start by asking yourself: why this precise moment?
>Place: Imbue with significance and details.
>Person/s: Does each one has to be here?
>Image: Is the focus on a character, object, vista, or something else?
>Sound or smell: Music, aroma, nature…

Generally, your key characters should make their appearances in the first ten pages. So make sure you show the following elements of protagonist in the beginning!

>A unique revealing action (Face touch, wheezes, constant smiler…)
>A memorable name (Pick yours!)
>A distinctive speaking style or tic (Is your character a shouter? Loves big words?)
